An accomplished, multi-talented and highly experienced musician with a flair for lecturing, teaching and public performing. A self-motivated, enthusiastic professional with the ability to instil confidence in students and their ability to advance their performing skills. Well received nationally and internationally.

 

Summary of skills

* Accomplished lecturer and teacher

Teaches students from Primary Schools to University level as well as adults. Lectured at State Conservatoire of Music in Windhoek, Namibia and taught music in Colleges and Academies in Johannesburg (Population 12 mill.) in South Africa.

Now registered with the New Zealand Teacher’s Council. Also teaching for examinations with the Royal School of Music and Trinity/Guildhall College (both London)

1965 Kehrmann Quartet
Kehrmann Quartet

Main instrument is Cello and students are trained from Beginners to Performers level. Also teaches Theory, Double Bass, Recorder, Clarinet and Saxophone

1981 Windhoek Baroque ensamble
Baroque Ensemble

Career includes performances in Namibia, South Africa and Europe (1972 and 1985) with the Windhoek Childrens Choir (on double bass and cello), and the Windhoek Baroque Ensemble (comprising of Recorder, Oboe and Basso Continuo). This included the State Theatre opening (Pretoria 1981) and public engagements.

Next performances, by invitation,were three with the Auckland Bach Cantate Society (in 2000, cello and double bass). Monthly solo performances (Cello with piano accompaniment) for North-Shore Registered Performing Teachers Association. (2002 to date)

 

Together with a violinist and pianist founded the “Festive Ensemble” and performed concerts in the heart of South Africa with the following highlights: Beethoven’s c-minor Trio, Smetana g-minor Trio, Arensky Trio and the Mendelsohn d-minor Trio. Also included in performances were works by Haydn and Mozart. Other regular engagements were at weddings, functions and birthday parties.
